CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this conference, attendees will be able to:
  • Describe current research into the etiology and pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis
  • Define the parameters of relapses in MS and effective management strategies
  • Discuss progressive forms of MS and emerging new therapies
  • Identify epidemiologic and genetic landmarks in multiple sclerosis
  • Cite effective ways of managing multiple sclerosis symptoms
  • Discuss rehabilitation strategies that are effective throughout the course of the disease
  • List new pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods of managing multiple sclerosis during acute exacerbations, in the long-term, and symptomatically
  • Identify treatment options in patients with breakthrough disease
  • Explain the use of MRI in the diagnosis and management of multiple sclerosis

DINNERS
  • IOMSN - The International Organization of Multiple Sclerosis Nurses will hold its annual dinner meeting in conjunction with the annual meeting of the CMSC. All nurses and nursing care providers will have an opportunity to socialize and interact with national and international colleagues. This dinner will feature an update about activities and programs for 2008 - 2009; a presentation of honors and awards; and a milieu in which networks will be strengthened and expanded.
  • IOMSRT - The International Organization of Multiple Sclerosis Rehabilitation Therapists will be holding its third annual dinner in conjunction with the 22nd annual meeting of the CMSC. Rehabilitation professionals from North America and worldwide will share new strategies for managing the ongoing challenges of multiple sclerosis as well as the latest in MS rehabilitation research.
  • MS Coalition - The Multiple Sclerosis Coalition is an affiliation of independent MS organizations dedicated to the enhancement of the quality of life for all those affected by multiple sclerosis. The MS Coalition has a website, www.multiplesclerosiscoalition.org, that provides visitors with the latest information about programs and outreach. Its theme is One Team - One Dream - Speaking with One Voice on behalf of those with MS.
  • Meet the Professor - This innovative dinner program offers MS thought leaders an opportunity to provide attendees with the latest information about MS research and implications for care. Dr. Patricia Coyle and Dr. Brian Weinshenker will lead a discussion on MS research and their expert opinions on optimal care for patients affected by MS.
  • Satellite Symposia presented by our major pharmaceutical collaborators will provide attendees with new and exciting information about products and services along with innovations in MS management. These separately-accredited programs will complement the wide variety of information offered during the offi cial part of our annual meeting.
