you will find this book helpful and informative." -- MS Focus
"...Highly recommended for MS patients, bookstores, and libraries."
-- Doody"s Health Sciences Book Review
"...inclusive and comprehensive..." --Library Journal
"This book is trustworthy! It is factual! It is honest! It is a jumping-off
point to learning more about MS and with that knowledge developing new better
coping skills to deal with the ups and downs of the mysteries of MS."
-- From the Second Edition Foreword by Randall T. Schapoiro, M.D., Fairview
Multiple Sclerosis Center, Minneapolis
"(There are now...) more choices for patients to make, and the critical tools
that empower them to make appropriate choices are educations and information.
The information compiled in this book, as in its predecessors, is an invaluable
resource for persons with MS and is applicable for those at all stages of the
disease. The questions are those that occur everyday, both in health care professional
offices and in people"s homes and offices. The answers have been meticulously
researched, and provide practical solutions where available and facts on which
to base choices when solutions are less clear-cut." -- From the Foreword by
Barbara Giesser, M.D.
Here is the definitive guide for anyone concerned with multiple sclerosis -
those who have the disease, those who share their lives with someone who has
it, and health care professionals involved with its management. Multiple
Sclerosis: The Questions You Have - The Answers You Need colvers a
wide range of topics in a question and answer format that is readily accessible
and esily understood. Its format mimics the collaborative relationship between
MS patients and their health care professionals. Experiences clinicians provide
answers to the questions that they have been asked repeatedly. The questions
themselves offer a model and a vocabulary for those who are not certain what
questions to ask or how to ask them. Plus, readers can quickly find information
about specific topics and questions based on their individual needs.
Now in its third edition, Multiple Sclerosis offers new questions, additional
information for old questions, and even some new answers. The contributors are
leading authorities in all areas of MS management. The questions for each topic
are assembled from a variety of sources. Including the computerized index of
all questions telephoned into National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the questions
most frequently presented to the contributors, and questions suggested by a
task force of patients and family members.
Each chapter contains a list of references and recommended reading for those
interested in pursuing more detailed information on a particular topic. The
guide also contains a comprehensive glossary of all terms commonly used in MS
management, as well as a list of relevant resources for individuals with MS
and their families. The chapter on treatments describes all medications commonly
used in the treatment of MS and the management of its symptoms.
And, to keep pace with the continual flow of new information and discoveries,
readers will receive Annual updates as part of their purchase price for Multiple
Sclerosis: The Questions You Have - The Answers You Need.
