Medicare Reimbursement to be cut by 5.1% in 2007
Thursday , September 07, 2006

If Congress does not act before the end of the year, Medicare reimbursement will be cut 5.1 percent in 2007. The time for Congress to prevent cuts to physician reimbursement is now!

The sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula controls physician reimbursement under Medicare. Earlier this year Congress froze reimbursement rates for 2006 at the 2005 level. Rates are scheduled under the SGR to be cut by 5.1 percent in 2007 and will be reduced by 26 percent over the next six years.

Please contact your members of Congress and ask for their support stopping the cuts and reforming the physician reimbursement system to protect patient access to care.
