CMSC Meets with a Delegation of Multiple Sclerosis Professionals from Rome, Italy

We had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from the University of Rome "La Sapienza" and "Ospedale Sant' Andrea" in Rome, Italy to CMSC offices. Our visitors included: Dr Valentina Durastanti is a neurologist with expertise in MRI having studied with Dr McFarland at NIH. Her expertise and enthusiasm for the care of people with MS is apparent. Her practice includes clinical care and research. Psychologist, Valentina Bianchi's work involves testing of MS patients and as Dr Durastanti, her professionalism and compassion for her clients is noteworthy. Nurse, Caterina Fodado, provides direct patient care, and spends much time with patient education and initiating therapy and injection training for the disease modifying medications. She also serves as President of her MS nursing organization, Società Infermieri Sclerosi Multipla (Italian MS Nurse Society), providing leadership for this respected affiliate of the International Organization of MS Nurses. Between the two hospitals, they provide care for approximately 1000 MS patients.

It was wonderful to share the intricacies of our CMSC website with the group and to explore the fine web sites for the centers where they practice. We are looking forward to further collaboration and welcome them as contributors to the multicultural offering planned for our site - MS Care World Wide - under the able leadership of Lorena Allemandi, Project Leader for Multicultural Affairs. Expect to see that new resource on our homepage soon.
