Dear CMSC Colleagues; I am honored to commence my first year as President of the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC). This organization has sustained me as a nurse involved field of MS care for over twenty years by providing quality education and a source for professional networking. I can honestly say that one of the reasons that I have sustained my commitment to the subspecialty of MS is because of the education and support I have received from educational meetings and materials, best practice guidelines, and advice from other experts in the field of care.
The CMSC has experienced enormous growth over the years as it is constantly challenged to meet the needs of healthcare professionals who care for those affected by MS. If you attended our annual meeting in Denver, Colorado this past spring, I think you will agree that, based on attendance, enthusiasm, and program quality, we are meeting these challenges. We cannot continue to do this with out your ongoing input and support. Our membership continues to grow annually. We now represent over 250 MS centers and 7,000 individuals involved in MS care and research. I would strongly urge you to get involved in this organization in areas such as committee work, our certification project, publications, abstract review, research, and honest feed-back into what we can do to continue to meet the needs of the healthcare provider and ultimately the patient and family affected with MS.
We continue to be very proud of our contributions to the field of MS care world wide. Please visit our web site at http://www.mscare.org/ and take advantage of our on line publications which include the International Journal of MS care and links to other projects and sites of organizations that we collaborate with.
It is not too early to start thinking about submitting an abstract for poster or platform presentation at our annual meeting in Atlanta,Georgia from May 27th to May 30th, 2009. We need you to participate and share your research and evaluation of quality care practices and programs that will help change the face of MS. Colleen Harris MN NP MSCN President of CMSC
