Corey Ford, MD, PhD
Dear CMSC Colleagues:
It is my great pleasure to send you greetings to welcome 2007 and to update you on the State of the CMSC, your organization which has grown during the past two decades and continues to lead in the care of multiple sclerosis and the support of the team model in this complex disease. We are proud of our contributions to the world of multiple sclerosis which include the following:
- We spearheaded the development and expansion of the MS Coalition, soon to seek incorporation as a not-for-profit organization of organizations. The Coalition will try to do things together that we can't do as effectively as individual organizations.
- We continue to expand our global outreach. There are several national and international CMSC sponsored initiatives.
- We are partnering with organizations that share our goals and objectives.
- We are adding to the body of evidence about MS care by supporting research and through consensus conferences.
- We continue to learn from one another at our annual meetings, the largest meeting in the country dedicated to all aspects of MS research, treatment and care.
- Our Committees are growing in breadth and scope of activities in support of our advocacy, education and research missions.
- Our publications and our website are widely read and are influential worldwide. The International Journal of MS Care is poised to become an important site for publications and readers who provide comprehensive MS care.
- Our membership continues to grow annually. We now represent over 180 MS centers and 2,000 individuals involved in providing MS care.
I welcome your participation in the CMSC and hope you will consider volunteering for our numerous projects. We also welcome your suggestions and your input since CMSC is YOUR organization and we depend on our membership to sustain our dynamism and collaborative spirit.
Sincerely, Corey C. Ford, MD, PhD President, CMSC |
