Living is Beautiful

Margarita Ruiz

Margarita Ruiz was born in Havana Cuba. Growing up, she attended school in Moscow, Russia, and was awarded a Fellowship at the National Institute of Moscow in 1963. She first developed signs of MS in 1969, but was not officially diagnosted until 20 years later. Due to the difficult economy in Cuba, the only treatment available to her was Cuban-made Alpha Interferon which she received for 8 months. She has demonstrated an unsinkable human spirit and shown us all that life is worth living because as she puts it, "living is beautiful".
