Spasticity in multiple sclerosis is a common but complex problem requiring careful evaluation and a combination of interventions. This program presents a team approach to managing spasticity in patients with MS. Due to the variability of disease, poor tolerance of first line interventions, and possible interaction of treatments, spasticity may not always be optimally managed in MS patients. This presentation provides detailed information from the Mellen Center’s clinical experience as well as evidence-based strategies for spasticity management in MS. The topics covered in this presentation include the evaluation and classification of the consequences of spasticity in patients with MS, and the integration of various therapeutic modalities into a multidisciplinary treatment plan. We hope that the information presented will help improve the management of spasticity in patients with multiple sclerosis. The Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC) is the largest organization of MS health professionals in the world. The goal of the CMSC is to provide education and to conduct research to ensure that all those affected by MS receive state-of-the-art healthcare and related services.
