The United Spinal Association, a nonprofit focused on improving the quality of life for people with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D), a group of conditions that include multiple sclerosis (MS), announced it will have an exhibit booth at the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers‘ (CMSC) 30th Annual Meeting, to be held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, June 1–4.

The organization’s booth (No. 617) will display various resources, such as educational features for patients with SCI/D, including Disability Etiquette and the award-winning magazine “New Mobility,” which covers diverse topics of interest to wheelchair users. Staff from the association will also be on hand to offer information on the group’s new Affiliate Service Provider program, an online directory providing consumers, caregivers, and professionals a spectrum of disability-related products and services, both regionally and across the U.S., with an emphasis on SCI/D.

“United Spinal fully supports CMSC’s work to advance multiple sclerosis research and share critical information and resources within our community,” said James Weisman, president and CEO of United Spinal, in a press release.

The CMSC 2016 Annual Meeting is the most comprehensive and multidisciplinary MS educational event in North America. It will feature a series of lectures, workshops, symposia, roundtables, panel discussions, and poster and platform presentations, covering a range of issues that affect MS patients and those who provide them with care.

Highlights include a lecture by Dr. Fred D. Lublin, of Mount Sinai Medical Center, an internationally renowned authority on the scientific and clinical aspects of MS. Dr. Lublin will deliver the opening John F. Kurtzke Memorial Lecture on the theme, “Do relapses really matter?” Other notable addresses include Dr. Daniel Pelletier on “Genetic Variations Relating to Glutamate Concentration in the Brain,” Dr. Jack Antel on “Multiple Sclerosis: Can the Damage be Undone?“, and the John F. Whitaker Memorial Lecture by Dr. Jerry S. Wolinsky, titled “Milestones in MS — Mostly Missed When They Happen.” More information about CMSC 2016 can be found by using this link.

United Spinal and CMSC, together with other independent MS organizations, are part of the MS Coalition, whose mission is to coordinate efforts and resources to better serve all those affected by this chronic, progressive and degenerative disorder.
