Shepherd Center: Multiple Sclerosis Research Fellowship - Physical Therapy

The Eula C. and Andrew C. Carlos MS Rehabilitation and Wellness Research program at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia is expanding in order to meet their mission to do research to improve the function, health, and quality of life in all people with MS. Deborah Backus, PT, PhD, Director of MS Research at the Shepherd Center provides direction on key studies that utilize Shepherd Center’s resources in physical, speech and occupational therapies as well as the latest technological advances to increase wellness and decrease the impact of impairment in people with MS.

Shepherd Center’s MS Research Fellowship offers a unique opportunity for a licensed physical therapist to develop or expand research skills, while also gaining experience in an expert clinical setting. The MS Research Fellow will be expected to become knowledgeable in MS rehabilitation and research related to decreasing symptoms and facilitating neural plasticity to improve greater function and health in people with MS. This individual will play an important role in advancing Shepherd Center’s research agenda, as well as MS rehabilitation and research in general.
