MSCS and MSCN Difference

Multiple Sclerosis is lifelong, unpredictable and intrusive on the person with MS and their loved ones. Its effects can be felt at work, home, school - making the expertise of professionals who care for them vital to healthy living and coping. The importance of this makes certification a way to measure the competency of such specialists.

CMSC is proud to have among our members a cadre of MS Certified Specialists (MSCS) and MS Certified Nurses (MSCN).


Created and Managed by Multiple Sclerosis Nurses International Certification Board (MSNICB);

All candidates must be registered nurses with at least two years experience in multiple sclerosis nursing. Candidates must also agree to adhere to the IOMSN Code of Ethics.

All licensed health professionals including Rehabilitation professionals, licensed nursing professionals, social workers, psychologists, neuropsychologists and other licensed personnel, with a recommended one year of experience caring for multiple sclerosis patients and at least 20% of professional time spent with MS patients and/or families.
